Charity Square Drive

I was looking around for a new baby blanket pattern to make for a friend of mine and I found this other blog. It's titled SmoothFox and she has a lot of different types of patterns out there. What I found most interesting is she hosts a competition on her blog for a charity drive. You turn in crocheted or knitted squares to a group called Online Angel's who put the squares together into blankets to give out to needy/sick families.

The interesting part is that it looks as though each square you put in gives you a chance to win a the grand prize of $100.00. You can compete as individuals or as a team. If you win and you happen to be part of a group then SmoothFox will post about your group....or possibly blog or shop. :)

Here's the link. What do you guys think about maybe entering?

  1. I think that's an awesome idea! It's for a good cause, a chance to win money, and possible advertisement for our shop, which we very much need :)
Also I can try out this 'butterfly square' crochet pattern I just saw...

  2. That's what I thought too. :) The only thing to remember it that we get more points for the 12x12 squares. Even more if we use SmoothFox's squares. I haven't seen anyone signing up as a group yet. Of course she just might not have posted the group points.

I'll wait for a yea or nay from Donna and Dawn before registering us for it.

We have until January to get our points up on it.

  3. I was going to ask if we had to design our own squares. I like doing 12 x 12 squares. I'll check out SmoothFox's squares and see if there is anything I like. I'm for it. Let's see what Dawn says. I think we are going to be awfully busy for the next few months.

  4. I'm in - do we each do our own and just submit one for the group?

  5. Dawn, we'll do it all together. I already signed us up since I was pretty sure Dawn would come back wanting to do it too.

I'm emailing you guys the free pattern that we received by signing up. At the very bottom of the document it has a form that you need to fill out and include each month with the squares that you make. It also has the address of where you send it to.

Our team name is Three Strands Together.

If you have any questions then you can email me and I'll reach out to the main contact. Or you can just reach out to her yourself. Her address will be in the email.

I'm so excited!!! This is perfect timing too because I'm just about to finish my most recent blanket tonight and can maybe start making the squares tonight, too. :)

    Happy Crocheting or Knitting!!!
