Show and Tell

by Kelly

It's show and tell time again! Lately, I've been crafting for cooler weather.

I think I'll call the first one a 'Bring Back the '80's' scarf. The second one is  a ruffle scarf made with Lion Brand Homespun. The homespun scarf is sooooo soft, it'll be hard to let it go.

And I'm also working on the project for my aunt, which I mentioned before. This one is really a great stepping stone for me. It's just three panels of stockinette seamed together, with a crochet border. How simple, right?

The only challenge here is that I had to make a gauge swatch...tons of fun, since I failed at that before. But I have learned things since then, and seem to have been more successful this time around. At least, the piece of the garment that is on my needles at the moment is coming in at 19", which is what it's supposed to be.

Fingers crossed...

Show and Tell - Embroidery and Crochet Hexagons

by Kelly

A short post today, because I'm busy pricing things for an upcoming garage sale.

Bookmarks I've made for the sale, that take about two minutes to make...

And since I had the embroidery floss out anyway, I tried out a project I've been thinking of for a while now - embroidery on denim. The red hearts looked the best, but I'm still playing around with ideas for those.

And of course, more super simple crochet hexagons from One Loop Short, just because they're pretty and addictive. Or is that pretty addictive?

Show and Tell - Baby Blankets and Shawl

by Kelly

New projects - baby blankets to sell.

The bottom blanket is supposed to have ribbon threaded through those eyelets and then tied in a bow. Now if only I had some ribbon.

Also, I've been experimenting with edgings and came up with my very own lace pattern (yay!).

I originally made it up when I was trying to make an edging for another baby blanket that I haven't finished yet, but I don't think this trim is going to work for that. I'd always be afraid of little fingers and toes getting caught in all the lacy holes.

It curls up like that because it's basically a lace ruffle. When stretched out flat it looks even curvier.

I'm selling the edging in the shop here.

And here's the latest project - a shawl that's been a quick crochet so far...

The free pattern for this shawl (called Iris) is at WEBS if you're interested.
The best part is that it's only a two row pattern, which for lace is really amazing. No need for a lifeline here.

Show and Tell

By Kelly

Do they still do show and tell in school? I remember for my first show and tell in Kindergarten, I was sad that I didn't have anything cool to bring in for the big day, so my older sister lent me her Pet Rock. Am I showing my age, here? Actually, the other kids were really impressed. Yes, things were different when I was a kid. Weirder, for one.

Let me show you the projects I finished in April.

Two cotton dishcloths, a totebag crocheted out of old sheets (which surprisingly turned out really well) , four little bears and a headband / hairtie thing for myself. The funny part about the hair thing is that I made up my own pattern while I was sitting in front of the TV, and now I have no clue what I did. Guess it's one of a kind.
