Etsy and Searching

This week we signed up for a limited time ad campaign on Etsy. With just a couple of days to go, I think it was a good experience - we certainly got a bump in the number of views we've had. The thing that I'm a bit confused about though, is how the search actually works. For instance, if you type in white afghan (both keywords used in Steph's spiral blanket), the search returns over 3000 items and the listing may be there, but it must be way down the list, because I don't see it anywhere near the top. However, if you type in Christmas afghan it is the third item (or thereabouts) on the front page. Try it and refresh a couple of times if it's not. The curious thing is that Christmas is not a keyword or from what I see, is not in any way associated with the listing for the white spiral afghan. Yet, I've tried this a number of times and it is usually very prominently returned with that search string. Bizarre.

Newest Creation

I've finally uploaded my latest creation onto the Etsy site which I'm calling the Rope and Ladder afghan. It's from a pattern that is actually called February for afghan's based off of birthstones. So this should have been made in amethyst but I think that the red looks good as well. Below is what I made off of it.

I'm a little worried about it though because with it being hot red in color when I take the picture it tends to come off really bright. I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't take it with the sunlight on it. Of course it could just be my computer so let me know if it looks too bright for you guys.

Our First Sale!

by Kelly

Something I forgot to post about was our first Etsy sale. Yay for us! This occurred on August 16th, and it was a crochet afghan in various autumn colored yarns. I got the pattern from this book.

I included a little crochet bear with a note saying 'Thanks for being our first customer!'. I'm assured that the bear has a great new home in a log cabin, of all places. Lucky dog! Er...bear.

Now here's hoping it's not another six months before our next sale!
