Show and Tell

by Kelly

It's show and tell time again! Lately, I've been crafting for cooler weather.

I think I'll call the first one a 'Bring Back the '80's' scarf. The second one is  a ruffle scarf made with Lion Brand Homespun. The homespun scarf is sooooo soft, it'll be hard to let it go.

And I'm also working on the project for my aunt, which I mentioned before. This one is really a great stepping stone for me. It's just three panels of stockinette seamed together, with a crochet border. How simple, right?

The only challenge here is that I had to make a gauge swatch...tons of fun, since I failed at that before. But I have learned things since then, and seem to have been more successful this time around. At least, the piece of the garment that is on my needles at the moment is coming in at 19", which is what it's supposed to be.

Fingers crossed...

  1. I LOVE the 80s scarf. Reminds me of the Noro one you did (or is that the same one?) I can't tell you how impressed I am that you are tackling this project for your aunt! Gauge - yuk! But you are such a great example of putting your mind to something - so self-directed!

  2. The Noro scarf was actually the inspiration for the 80s scarf.I wanted to make one to sell, but didn't want to pony up the money for Noro yarn! Maybe I should call it Nearly Noro... And as for gauge, I apparently knit really loosely, because I went down four needles sizes and then still had to drop 4 stitches off my total to make the gauge.
