Crochet Fashionistas
While I love to work on scarves and dishcloths (you know, things that are rectangle), I am branching out into clothing [insert forboding music here...]. A little daunting for sure, but I think I'm up for the challenge. The project I'm doing right now is a beautiful (yet simple) crocheted camisole - I should be finished in the next few days and will post a pic. I think one of my obstacles to making this leap in the past has been most of the clothing patterns I was used to seeing were SO old school. Granny square vests and beer can hats (yeah, I had one). But there is a whole new generation of crocheters out there doing really amazing things. One of my favorites right now are the Double Stitch Twins. They are affiliated with Red Heart and have an amazing collection of stuff I might actually wear, not that the beer can hat wasn't fashionable. Check their patterns out at http://www.redheart.com/blog/double-stitch-twins-red-heart-yarns
I read in the comments that they have a skirt pattern coming out - that should be interesting.I've seen edging on a skirt, but never a fully crocheted one.
ReplyDeleteDawn, you and Kelly are really trying new things. I can't keep up with you.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny. I thought we were trying to keep up with you! You're the master crocheter in our group. Thanks for the dishcloth. It looks great and I really liked the edging color you used.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm going to have to get some more gumption up on my end. I've always wanted to try things like you guys have been but I've been too worried that it wouldn't turn out right. Or thought....what am I going to do with it when I'm done.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to start trying new projects so I can fit in. :P
Though I don't see how you can get through so many projects, Kelly. It takes me weeks to complete something....though probably doesn't help with my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. :( You are just so quick!
i have a lot of free time...that is, until I suggested we start a blog :) My crafty productivity has suffered since.
